Episode 17: AIS and radar functions

Welcome to the Juno Sailboat! Today, we’re installing an AIS system and integrating it with the NMEA 2000 backbone. First, mount the AIS transponder in a dry, well-ventilated spot. Ensure it’s securely attached. Now, let’s connect the AIS to the NMEA 2000 backbone. Use a T-connector to link the AIS to the network. This allows your AIS to share data with other devices, like your chartplotter. Next, connect the AIS to a power source. Double-check that the power supply matches the AIS requirements. Finally, power on the system and check your chartplotter to ensure the AIS is transmitting and receiving data correctly. And that’s it! Your AIS is now integrated with the NMEA 2000 network, enhancing your navigation. Safe sailing!
